A new edition of a book for children on the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help promises to be helpful in introducing young people to this great devotion. The Story of Sister Adele and Mary’s Apparition in Wisconsin is written for children and features on its cover an attractive drawing of the seer of the apparition.
This story, about Adele Brise, is written from her perspective, beginning with her immigration to America from Belgium, the apparition, the foundation of a religious community and a school, the Peshtigo Fire and Adele’s death.
The author, Edward Looney, is a seminarian for the Diocese of Green Bay, WI and is pursuing graduate level theological studies at the University of St. Mary the Lake-Mundelein Seminary, in the Chicago Archdiocese. His interest in the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help began in 2005 when he made a pilgrimage there on August 15, the Feast of the Assumption.
The book has received the nihil obstat and imprimatur, meaning that it is free from doctrinal error. To purchase it, go to Edward’s website, The Story of Sister Adele.
